I feel so excited that you have stopped to read the story behind weddingdecorgarden :)
I am a wife, mom, social psychologist, small business owner, violin player, bridal coach, and certified wedding event designer who has worked in the South Florida wedding industry for over a decade.
"How did I end up selling on Etsy ?" You may ask. Well, It all started when I became a mom and had to stop working outside my home.
Because I am a mother of two little girls, I started designing and making beautiful couture baby headbands for them.
I loved to combine fabrics and colors and make them unique and special. My girls used to have a headband for every outfit in their closet :)
My daughters always received compliments about their hair accessories, which gave me so much joy in what I used to do.
Soon, I became a fan of the different kinds of satin fabric.
Burning the edges of some of these fabrics became so relaxing that I decided to open a small shop on Etsy where I could sell couture baby headbands and other hair accessories for girls. At that time, I was in love with circus themes, so the headbands I was planning to sell were candy colors, and I decided to name this shop Iwannaeatit because those headbands looked like little pieces of cakes :)
A couple of weeks passed, and there was a baby dedication celebration at my local Christian church, where I volunteered to help to decorate the venue. I didn't know they had only pillar candles for the event, which would be held the next day.
The place looked dull and simple, and there was no money on the budget to buy flowers. I thought I could afford to donate rose petals for the event and pass by the supermarket the next morning to buy roses, but the venue did not accept fresh rose petals. The closest craft store was already closed to buy silk rose petals as a second option. At that moment, I remembered that I had satin fabric at home and already knew how to make couture singed flowers; It was a matter to cut the fabric in petals shape.
That night, I hurried home to make approximately five hundred petals to scatter on the tables and scatter them around the pillar candles before all the people gathered there.
All the moms and dads were delighted, and I was glad to think how a piece of satin fabric could give a touch of a garden to simple table decor.
The next day, I decided to change the niche of my Etsy shop and immediately change the name to what it is today: weddingdecorgarden, and I started to make flower petals for weddings.
My petals soon became a trend as they look costly compared to mass-produced silk petals. And about selling on Etsy? I have enjoyed every part of it.
This shop has grown to what it is today because of customers like you. My customers have helped me grow this business by leaving a review for my shop and sending me beautiful pictures of their events.
I never asked for a picture, yet, they gladly sent lots of them to me. Some of the images in my listings are gifts from good photographers, too.
The good reviews have always encouraged my work on Etsy, but the bad reviews have helped me grow. I have learned to be grateful for both of them. Thanks again :)
Now my daughters are in elementary school, and I still have the opportunity to work from home in my Etsy shops and in different areas related to weddings and brides.
I have enjoyed interacting with all of my customers since 2016.
And this is how I started on Etsy!
You will only find my handmade products here!
I am thankful to continue being alive, enjoying my family, and selling on Etsy serving customers like you like it was the first time I opened this shop.
Thank you so much for choosing this shop to be part of your special event.
You are one of the reasons I wake up thankful every day :)
Don't forget to continue visiting meâ„
